About Gail and the Power of Friendship
Like most women, Gail resists being defined by the roles assigned to her — most of all — cancer patient. Avid traveller and international business professor, Gail's breast cancer returned after 19 years as Stage IV, with metastases to the lung.
In early 2009, she left her career behind for health reasons and tapped into her lifelong passion for fabric, designing a hat to make women in the throes of chemotherapy feel beautiful. She wanted to give back and help women sharing her journey face each new day with dignity and style. Her longtime friends saw the potential and began brainstorming, networking and planning. Their collective vision blossomed and what started as a small sewing project turned into the Gaila Fund for Women with Cancer.
